DESCRIPTION:WSBR February Luncheon Featuring Richard DalBello\, Director of the Department of Commerce’s Office of Space Commerce. \nOn Wednesday\, February 14\, join the Washington Space Business Roundtable (WSBR) at Hogan Lovells LLP from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. for lunch and conversation with Richard DalBello\, Director of the Department of Commerce’s Office of Space Commerce. \nOverseeing a growing team responsible for “fostering the conditions for the economic growth and technological advancement of the U.S. commercial space industry\,” and charged with ensuring a safe and sustainable orbital environment through the stand-up of civil space situational awareness capabilities\, Director DalBello and his team work at the forefront of today’s commercial space policy and regulatory initiatives and debates. \nAs Congress and the White House consider tasking the Office of Space Commerce with overseeing a wide range of commercial in-space activities\, learn how his office is addressing its important scope of work\, his perspectives on the coming year for the commercial space sector\, and how the Office of Space Commerce is focusing on ensuring that space remains sustainable in the long-term – both for commerce\, and for safety. \nCommerce\, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration\, U.S. Department of Commerce. In this role he is responsible for managing the Department’s efforts to establish a space traffic control system to ensure safe space operations for commercial and international civil space ventures. In addition\, Richard is responsible for the regulation of the US commercial remote sensing industry and for general advocacy\, across the government\, for commercial space industry interests. \nPrior to joining the Department of Commerce\, Richard was Virgin Galactic’s Vice President of Global Engagement. In this role\, Richard was responsible for international business development for the company’s unique fleet of carrier aircraft and space vehicles. Prior to joining Virgin\, Richard served as Director\, Space and Aeronautics\, in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In this role\, he served as the principal advisor on space and aeronautics matters to the Science Advisor to the President. In this position\, Richard played a key role in the development and implementation of the Administration’s domestic and international space policy and program priorities. \nPrior to joining OSTP\, Richard served as the Vice President of Government Affairs for Intelsat General.
