WSBR December Luncheon with Major General Steven Whitney, USSF

December 11 @ 12:00 pm 1:30 pm

WSBR December Luncheon Featuring Maj. Gen. Steven Whitney, Director of Staff, Headquarters, U.S. Space Force

On December 20, 2019, the United States’ newest military service, the Space Force, was signed into creation. With a charge to secure the United States’ interests in, from, and to space, the service’s development has been a focused interest for the space community – stakeholders in industry, members of Congress, the Administration, international partners and allies – in the five years since.

Join the Washington Space Business Roundtable (WSBR) on Wednesday, December 11, at Hogan Lovells LLP from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (ET) to hear from a senior USSF leader, Maj. Gen. Whitney, on the directive and direction he and his colleagues are achieving for the United States’ security in the space domain.

What has the Space Force achieved in that time? Where is the Space Force going from here? What are the threats today? How can industry partner with USSF to provide innovative solutions?

Maj. Gen. Steve Whitney is the Director of Staff, Headquarters, U.S. Space Force, the Pentagon. In this role, he synchronizes policy, plans, positions, procedures and cross-functional issues for the U.S. Space Force headquarters staff.

General Whitney graduated in 1992 from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and completed the university’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program as a distinguished graduate. Through the years, he has served in a wide variety of space system acquisition and operations leadership positions within the Air Force, Space Force, Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and National Reconnaissance Office. His assignments include serving as a crew commander, spacecraft engineer, senior flight commander, director of engineering, squadron commander, senior materiel leader, program director and program executive officer. Prior to his current assignment, Maj. Gen. Whitney was the Military Deputy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration, Washington, D.C.  He was responsible for research and development, test, production, product support and modernization of Space Force programs worth more than $27 billion annually.
