WSBR May Luncheon Featuring Colonel Richard Kniseley, Senior Material Leader of the Space Systems Command’s Commercial Space Office
Join the Washington Space Business Roundtable (WSBR) on Friday, May 17, at Hogan Lovells LLP from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (ET), for an engaging and insightful luncheon discussion with Colonel Richard Kniseley, Senior Material Leader of the Space Systems Command’s Commercial Space Office.
As the United States’ commercial space sector innovates at breakneck speed, the Department of Defense’s and Space Force’s recently-released commercial space strategies recognize the growing imperative – and many related policy, contractual, and operational questions about – the future of private sector collaboration with the space warfighting community. At the Commercial Space Office, Col. Kniseley and his team are at the “point of the sphere” for interacting with and integrating the growing U.S. commercial space sector into our national security space architecture.
Colonel Richard Kniseley is the Senior Materiel Leader, Commercial Space Office, Space Systems Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. Colonel Kniseley leads a 90 personnel office that assesses, implements, integrates, and monitors commercial space capabilities for the Department of Defense. Charged with enacting a “Buy Before Build” paradigm shift, Colonel Kniseley executes over $1 Billion in investments mitigating critical capability gaps for the warfighter while interacting with senior Department of the Air Force members, Congressional Staff, and leaders of industry.
Colonel Kniseley entered active duty in 2000 as a graduate of the Air Force ROTC program at Colorado State University. During his career, he has served in a variety of acquisition positions including Program Manager, Flight Test Manager, Flight Commander, Headquarters Staff Officer, Field Command Staff Officer, Legislative Liaison, and Materiel Leader.
